Community Supported Agriculture (or CSA) is a way for the farm to create a relationship with the local community. CSA's first started as a way to get the local community to invest in a local farm to become a "shareholder". As a shareholder, you were investing in the farms harvest. If the harvest that season was bountiful, you would receive a large portion of that produce, but if for some reason the farm encountered unforeseen issues, you may not have received much produce. However, your investment assured the farm to be around the following year.
The concept of a CSA have evolved over time. Now, customers are still considered investing in the farm, but in return, your investment is mostly guaranteed with a return as a weekly "box" or "bag" of seasonal produce each week. In addition to your weekly produce, you will be able to "add-on" additional produce and/or tea and coffee from Root Brothers Coffee & Tea, receive vegetable storage tips, and recipe ideas. To get your weekly share, you can opt to do a curb-side pick up, delivery, pick up from the Pittsfield Farmers Market on Thursdays, or you can pick up from the Tecumseh Farmers Market on Saturday's from 9-1 and while your there you check out the other local vendors. Below is an example of what freshest vegetables will be in your box. We aim to change these items weekly, but may receive some repeats depending on what's growing at that time.
